last one

So my final book was the first Harry Potter book . This was my first time reading the book  and I really enjoyed it. Which is making me regret not reading this as a child because this was one of my favorite movies as a child. I'm going back to watch all the movies soon probably after school gets out.

I would say that tis book follows the movie pretty closely. Now I cant speak for the other books but I can say that after this one I would think that they follow very closely to those to. I really hope that I can continue to read and finish this series over summer break so that I can gain a peice of my childhood back.

The 5 books that i am going to read are the rest of the Harry Potter series because this is my first time reading the series and i just live the book. Ive seen all the movies atleast 5 times and i live the movies so i think that it is time for me to read the books.
Also i want to read the Green Mile because i started reading it but i never got to finish it. I really liked the beinging of the book and i just want to finish it and i like the author who is Stephen King, who is really good author for me.

Don't Get Caught By Kurt Dinan

I would give this book a 9.5 out of 10. The only reason I would give it that is because at some parts it did seem a bit kid-ish but it would be a book that I would have read in middle school and enjoyed. Now I did enjoy reading this book but I also read it to pass your class.

The idea of the book with them trying to get back at the club for getting them in trouble is very well thought out with one of the biggest plot twist at the end that I have seen in my 16 years of living. I did not see that coming. I still enjoyed this book very much and i would read it again.

It was a really well thought out book and the level of description was also very well in my mind. The way that you added in the steps to the perfect hiest was awesome and a nice touch that i really dont see a lot in books. And also at the bottem of the page there were cows that were movine was a nice touch.

Some of my favorite boom covers are just plain and simple like Dont Get Caught because it is just red with a couple pictures of cows. But i also like covers that have a good picture that really has to go with the book. I really do judge a book by its coer, I know your not supposed to but we all do it. Its just that an interesting cover will get me to read the book and if the cover is not interesting then the book just loose interest to me.

My book 3 was Misery by Stephen King. I just thought that it was an over all good book. So it is about an author who crashes his car in the middle of Colorado in the winter and he is found by his #1 fan. After trying to nurse him back to health, he tries to escape but she catches him in the act and then amputees one of his feet. Later on in the book a couple of police officers and then she shoots one and then runs over the other one with a lawn mower. The book is very gruesome and violent which is why I like it. There really weren't a lot of parts that i disliked because it got right to the action with the car crash then with him being kidnapped. This is one of my favorite books I have read in a while.

So my first top 5 book is
1. Sunrise Over Fallujah By Walter Dean Myers
This book is about a young man that joins the army after 9/11 and it goes into details about the horrors about was and all the hardships they face. As the story goes on and the main character gets letters from his uncle who was in Vietnam and he try's to help him through the war.  I enjoy this book because I really like to read books about war weather or not if its fiction or non-fiction. I would recommend to anyone who likes war books.

2.  The Westing Game By Ellen Raskin
This book is very confusing which is why I really enjoy it. With twist and turns on every page and your not sure who has what clue or who the author is even describing at the moment just makes me to want to keep reading.
 3. The Outsiders By S.E Hinton
The Outsiders is a very classic book telling you what life was like for a teenager in the 1960's. Most people have no idea what it was like to be a greaser, meaning that they had a bad home life and they were just different. I really enjoy this book because its just different because it tells a different side of life that really wasn't told about.  

4. Night By Elie Wiesel
Coming from a Jewish family, this book really hits home with me because I've herd story's of my grandmother getting out right before the Nazi's took over. After reading this book it really makes me re-think my life and wonder how hard it really is. I think everyone should read this because it puts light on-to something not really talked about.


5.  Don't Get Caught By Kurt Dinan
This is one of my favorite books because its just funny and it reads really fast and it serves no purpose to be educational.

Horror books in my mind are the best books because they just get your blood flowing and heart pumping. Some of the main characteristics of horror is that first the problem is introduced then they describe how it happens and then how the problem is solved. There are a couple of big types of horror: survival, or life- threating. My favorite type is survival meaning that there is usually one or two people that are faced with an impossible task of surviving situation that should kill them like Misery by Stephen King. I just like how it is just one person that is trying to survive so he can go home.

            With horror movies and books it lets people experience something that people wouldn’t normally get to do something like that. People like to be scared, having their blood rushing.  People may not like being scared at the moment of the actual event but after wards you feel good about it. I mean who doesn’t like that feeling. With horror books you have to embrace the fact that you’re going to get scared, you can’t read it and not expect to do that, if you do then you’re not going to enjoy the book. I really do think that horror is the best genre because you’re reading a book and you’re experiencing something that you will most likely never get to experience in your life.

So my authors name is Michael Punke. Michael Punke currently works as the Deputy United States Trade Representative and U.S Ambassador to the World Trade Organization in Geneva, Switzerland. When The Revenant came out in theaters Punke was over 10,000 miles away working on a trade deal.
Punke started to write this book after reading a couple of lines from a history text book.  

 With his job Punke can't talk about his book because it could be "self-enriching". This book came out in 2002 and didn't have much success at first so when he sold the movie rights it's when he really first got noticed.

The book that I chose for my forth book is Don't Get Caught by Kurt Dinan. I chose this as my book because be for break Mr. Dinan read us the first chapter of the book and it seemed very funny and very good. After that my mom also ordered it and I decided to read it. My expectations for the book is that it has a lot of funny moments and a lot of twits in the plot. The way Mr. Dinan described the book to us in class it just seemed very interesting and I just had to read it. My thought on the cover are that it is very plain and simple. I like plain and simple. Not very often now do we see solid colored covers like this one, which I very much enjoy the red. I think that it fits the book perfectly. And the cows on the cover is just weird but I like it. As I was reading the book I noticed that there were cows on the bottom of the page as you turned it and the would move when the page got flipped. I haven't seen that in any books that I have read this year and I thought that, that was very interesting. What I know about the book is that Mr. Dinan had us all go vote for the book on Goodreads to get it in the #1 spot for most categories. I'm kidding but from all the reviews i have read it's supposed to be a very good book and from what I have read so far (which is all of it) it is a very good book.

The way I view these articals is that Jodi Picoulct is that she had a right to be mad at the fact that how Franzen said that female writers just write love books. Now i think that that's ok for them to do but their are a lot of other female writers that also write other books. And with people getting criticized on reading young adult books like if your 40 years old, I think that you can read what you want and read what ever makes you happy.

So the movie for The Hunt For Red October I thought was actually a very good movie. The way that they portrayed the book on to the big screen was very good. I thought that they left out a lot of the minor parts from the book that really didn't matter to the main plot of the book and they left those out of the movie which really helped it out. With them leaving out the smaller parts it really made it easier to follow along with the movie. With the book and those smaller details that I think are unimportant, it really makes it hard to follow along with the main plot because you knd of forget the main plot with Jack Ryan.

So for The Hunt for Red October the movie trailer look some what like the book and how the trailer had followed the book from the two minutes that I saw. For me I think that this movie would have to be close to 3 hours long because of how long the book is. For example look at Lord of The Rings all very long movies with close to the same amount of pages. I just looked up the time and it says it is 2 hours and 15 minutes which is shorter than I thought but that is still a longer movie. With is being Much shorter than what I thought they must have cut out some of the less important scenes from the book and there are a lot in my mind.
 As for the actors I think that Alec Baldwin was a good choice for Jack Ryan as he is a good actor for the situation and his voice is what I had in my mind, kind of like a deep but scratchy voice which I think is a good choice for him. As for Sean Connery playing Commander Marko Ramuis, I think they could have gotten somebody who is a little bit more Russian looking and less Scottish looking. I just didn't picture that in my mind and they could have gotten somebody who has a better Russian accent. The fact that they didn't do that is kind of disappointing.

Blog 4 Book Adapations

So for most books that are made into movies, I would say most of them are pretty good in my mind but a lot of the authors that wrote the books think that the directors just murdered the adaptation. For The Hunt For Red October by Tom Clancy I don't think that it should have been made into a movie because there isn't a lot of dialogue and its more literature than anything so I would think that it would just be a long and boring 3 hours movie.

After reading some reviews of the movie a lot of people seemed to have thought that the movie was pretty good. I'm not sure how closely the book follows the book because I'm not very far. I haven't been able to find out what the author Tom Clancy thought about it so I'm not really going to guess.

For a lot of books made into movies like Lone Survivor I thought that the book which is a biography was good and I also thought that the movie was really good. I thought the cast for Marcus Latrell which was played by Mark Walhberg was very well casted.

The Revenant by: Michael Punke

The book is a bout a fur trapper after he is attacked by a bear in the woods in the 1820's. After he is attacked he is left to die by 2 of his comrades. 

Hugh Glass is a frontiersmen and he is on a fur trapping expedition with his company. After a very short time in the woods he is out scouting when he is attacked by a grizzly bear. With Glass being unable to move and most likely die his friends left him to die and took his belongings. After being unconscious for a couple of days he woke up and went on a 3000 mile journey for revenge. With Indian attacks on the way. He was looking for revenge from the people that left him and robbed him of his items.

Why Do I Read?

I read because it is important. I think that it is important because it helps us gain knowledge and helps us understand the English language better.  I read because I think it is fun. It’s fun because if you can find a good book that you like it can take you to a different world, to a place that you could only imagine of. I would compare reading a book to being addicted to a drug because you just can't put it down. Like I just can't stop it just goes page by page and I can't stop. If I find a book that I just love I will read it so many time that I lose track of the times that I have read it. I think that everyone should read, not just school books because most people don’t like school books except for a few (The Catcher and the Rye) if you find a book that you really enjoy they you just can’t put it down, it truly is like being addicted to a drug. Most people who say that don’t like to read have just never found a book that they have never enjoyed reading before. If you have any doubt you should always read the book or at least start it and try to read it. That’s why I read and why I think you should read.
