Sunrise Over Fallujah by Walter Dean Myers. First off this is my favorite book because it just has so much detail about all the little things in this book. I'm not very far right now but I have read it before but I'm reading it again because I just love it so much. So the main character Robin"birdy" Perry. This girl named Marla in his squad keeps calling him Birdy because of his first name is Robin. Robin doesn't like being called that and he tells her to stop but she doesn't listen. Robin is scared to go into combat but at the same time he wants to go in to Iraq and help out the locals.
Walter Dean Myers writes this with such a way that you never want to put it down! He uses some syntax patterns like anaphora "And now, when I was hearing about the Sunnis being killed ,or the bombs going off in the marketplace, the only thing I could think of was I was so glad is wasnt me lying in the streets of Baghdad, or Fallujah or Mosul. I was glad it was not my blood being cleaned off the streets or getting swept up on the roads out side of the city."(213) This is anaphora because Myers keeps repeating the word I in the paragraph.
